Introduction
The purpose of this article is to provide Customers with an overview of Zonal Hardware that can be installed on a site and what can (and can’t) be safely powered down to reduce energy consumption. Some cases are specific to particular types of installation, hardware or functionality - so we would recommend that any changes are tested and/or trialled before rolling out to assess impact to operational processes.
It is also important to ensure that Staff are aware of the correct process to power down equipment, and are provided clear instructions on how to Wake or Power devices back on to avoid unnecessary calls to the Helpcentre. Shutting down hardware incorrectly or against advice can result in degradation, faults and in some cases cause problems on start up. Customers should also analyse whether they have any proprietary software or processes that require a particular machine to be powered on. The recommendations in this document only take into account Zonal Hardware and Software processes.
Note some processes will not be able to run or complete with some devices in low or no power mode and the impact of this should be considered carefully in advance.
